Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) was established in 1961 and it consists of 151 members who are the manufacturers of the Vegetable Ghee/Cooking Oil in all the four provinces of Pakistan respectively. PVMA is registered with Directorate General Trade Organization, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan bearing Trade License No. 79, under the Trade Organization Act, 2013.

Proudly PVMA represents the sector whose annual turnover exceeds Rs.2400 Billion per annum. PVMA members contribute to the national exchequer up-to Rs. 550 Billion directly or indirectly in the shape of duty/taxes and other levies. The sector is included in top five revenue spinners of Pakistan as announced by Federal Board of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan.

It is a well-established fact that around 3 Million Metric Tons of Edible oil is imported in Pakistan. Edible Oil sector of Pakistan is procuring the raw material mostly global sources and manufacturing 4.5 Million M. Tons of standardized and high quality Banaspati & Cooking Oil to meet the national demand.

Two times a week a market report is also released in Mandarin. Thomas Mielke joined the OIL WORLD team in the mid-1970s, after studying economics. He is a member of the Programme Advisory Committee of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board. In 2014 Thomas Mielke received a Lifetime Excellent Award of the Malaysian industry in recognition of his contributions and commitments.

Mr. Abdul Rasheed JanMohammad is Master of Law and Commerce Graduate. He is presently Chief Executive of Westbury Group, Mapak Edible Oils (Pvt.) Limited (Edible Oil Refinery+Solvent Plant), FWQ Enterprises (Pvt) Limited (Edible Oil Jetty + Edible Oil Storage Terminal), Mapak Qasim Bulkers (Pvt.) Limited (Edible Oil Terminal) (Joint Venture Projects between Pakistan & Malaysia-Port Qasim). He is also the Director of Dalda Foods (Pvt) Limited, Bulk Management (Pakistan) Pvt. Limited, Westbury (Private) Limited, Trading Enterprises (Pvt.) Limited, Shakoo (Private) Limited F&B Bulk Storage (Pvt.) Limited and Rotary Club, Karachi.

Mr. Rasheed JanMohammad is President of Bin Qasim Association of Trade & Industry (BQATI). He is Chairman of Pakistan Shippers’ Council of FPCCI, President, Association of Port Terminal Operators (APTO). He is also Member of Managing Committee of Kharadar General Hospital. He is also Chief Executive of Pakistan Edible Oil Conference (PEOC) which organized five consecutive Global Edible Oil Conferences in Pakistan and Member of Rotary Club of Karachi.

Previously, He was Chairman of Pakistan Edible Oil Refiners Association (PEORA), Executive Committee Member of FPCCI, Committee Member of Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP), Executive Committee Member of All Pakistan Solvent Extractors Association APSEA.  He was also Member of Prime Minister’s Task Force for the supply of Palm Oil from Indonesia.

Mr. Rasheed JanMohammad has been a regular speaker in International Edible Oil Conferences, including, Malaysia, Indonesia, India and UAE.

Previously he was the Executive Director of GAPKI from 2009 to 2017. Currently, Dr. Fadhil Hasan is an Advisor of PT Inti Indosawit Subur (Asian Agri Group).

Dr. Fadhil Hasan held various positions previously among other as Director of the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) and Director of Standardization and Smallholder Development of Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) and Member of National Committee for Economy and Industry (KEIN).

Dr. Fadhil Hasan graduated from Bogor Agricultural University, and earned Master of Science from Iowa State University, USA and Ph.D from University of Kentucky, USA majoring in Agricultural Economics.

Dr. Julian McGill

Managing Director & Founder, Glenauk Economics

Dr Julian McGill is the Managing Director and Founder of Glenauk Economics. Glenauk is an advisory firm focusing on the economics of crops, agricultural commodities and their value chains.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Dr McGill’s main focus is on palm oil and the lauric oils as well as their many downstream derivatives in food, specialty fats, feed, biofuels and oleochemicals.

A globally recognized authority on the economics of the oil palm, Dr McGill also has a longstanding interest in yield intensification in tropical oil crops. He is a member of the Incorporated Society of Planters and council member of the Malaysian Estate Owners Association (MEOA). Dr McGill is also on the advisory board of the Sustainable Coconut Partnership.

Prior to founding Glenauk Economics, Dr McGill started his career with LMC International where he established the Kuala Lumpur office.

Dr McGill holds an M.A. (Honours) in Economics from the University of Edinburgh and completed his PhD at the University of Oxford

Mr. Dorab Mistry

Director, Godrej International Ltd.

Dorab Mistry was born in India in 1953 and graduated from Bombay University in Commerce in 1973. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1976, having won the President’s Gold Medal.

He started his career at GODREJ, one of India’s leading industrial groups, in 1976. Since 1977 Dorab was based in London handling the vegetable oil buying and trading portfolio for GODREJ. The company’s wide ranging interests in vegetable oil processing, animal feeds, oleo chemicals, alcohols, soaps, toiletries, foods and plantations gave him a unique perspective of the world vegetable oil scenario.

Since 1996, Dorab has been a regular speaker on vegetable oil Price Outlook and is regarded as a leading analyst of price behavior. He also writes and speaks regularly on the Indian economic scene. Dorab has served as India’s representative on the managing committee of the International Association of Seed Crushers and was its Vice President from 2006 to 2008.

In June 2013, Dorab Mistry was appointed an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II Diamond Jubilee Birthday Honors List.

Mr. Shakil Ashfaq

Past Chairman, APSEA.

Shakil Ashfaq’s tenure in the edible oil business dates back to 2000, coinciding with the establishment of Shujabad Agro Industries (Pvt) Ltd., the pioneering oilseed crushing unit at Port Qasim, Karachi. Over time, the company has expanded to encompass three oilseed crushing lines, an advanced cooking oil refining and packaging unit, alongside diverse investments in grain trading, flour milling, and cargo handling services. Notably, the company’s leading cooking oil brand, Eva, holds a prominent position in Pakistan’s premium edible oil market segment.

Ashfaq has held the position of President at the All Pakistan Solvent Extractors’ Association (APSEA) and the Bin Qasim Association of Trade and Industry (BQATI).   He has also served in Executive Committee of the Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers’ Association (PVMA) and the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).

His academic background is marked by a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering earned in 1991, followed by a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering obtained in 1993, both from Wichita State University in the United States.
